Little Hands, Little Feet, Big Love Card

These two cards use the teddy bear from the All For Baby stamp set and coordinating Baby Clothes Dies.  But the card styles are polar opposites.

I've cut out the letters using the Playful Alphabet Dies, which has 58 dies including letters, numbers, punctuation and symbols.  I particularly like that there's a few of the same letter so you can make multiples quickly with just one pass through your die cutting machine.

This card feels super stylish with it's gold accents and Expressions In Ink DSP.  The accents are part of the Ephemera pack from the bundle.  Love the colour combo of Polished Pink and Pale Papaya.  What do you think?

More thanks go to Carole for sending me the two frames used in these cards.  There's something very pleasing about a square card with square windows.

Hello Little One

I received a lovely surprise in the mail last week from craft buddy Carole, who has recently joined our 'virtual' craft session on Wednesdays during Covid lockdown.  Let me know if you'd like to join us sometime and I'll send you the link.  

Anyway, thank you Carole for sending these really cute cardstock frames in some lovely colours.  

I'm really happy with the way they turned out.  And Carole also inspired the design of this first card after I saw how she'd stamped and layered an image in her design. 

This card used the stamp set All For Baby.  There is a coordinating die set called Baby Clothes Dies and that's how I cut out the teddy bear.  The DSP is Hand Penned and I've layered it onto a square card of Basic White.  Square cards are not as economical because you can only get one decent sized card out of a piece of A4 - this one measures 13 x 26cm to give a 13cm square card.  I will probably make my envelopes using the matching DSP so it'll look stunning!  Carole cut out the window piece with her Cricut machine.  And she sent the circles as well, which I love with the little bear and hearts stamped on them.  The main bear has a bow that I stamped and cut out using the Baby Clothes dies.

The second card uses a square window frame.  This one looks lovely with the Pleased As Punch Specialty DSP (retired) behind it. The hearts were punched out of the same paper, and I used a stamp from Under My Umbrella - also sadly retired, to stamp the umbrella and handle. This time, I stamped the bow directly onto the bear.

Girl or Boy?

Despite being an avid card maker I still don't know why I haven't got the right card for the occasion on hand all the time!!

Sound familiar?

So with some new babies on the way I figured I'd better whip up some lovely little cards - and not dilly-dally on the way!

It's so easy to get distracted by all the pretty, sparkly, new things in the craft room isn't it....

Here's what I did......

The designs grew largely out of the paper I selected.....both of these are retired but were in the same pack of Designer Series Paper.  And that can often make design selection easy because it narrows down the choice of colour and the feel of the card - in this case the colours are pastel hues and as I have inks and stamps that work well with them it makes finishing a project relatively simple.

CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #38

It's a colour challenge this week over on CAS Colours & Sketches blog - I like these because it makes me try new colour combo's.

Bashful Blue has retired but I did find an old pad and a scrap of cardstock so I could be true to the challenge.  It's perfectly fine to substitute similar colours though if you have already passed yours on.

I don't make many baby cards and I absolutely love this so someone will have to have a baby soon that I can give it to!

Lovin' the banners?  These are a stamp & framelit from Hearts a Flutter.  The sentiment is from Bitty Banners & also has a framelit.

These tiny bows were easy to tie, you start bigger and keep adjusting till they're tiny.  Attach them with glue dots.

Vellum

Vellum is an unusual paper often used as an overlay for cards - think white on white and wedding.  But there are other ways you can use it - lots in fact.  We'll be exploring some of the ways in our upcoming classes.

Anyway, here's a couple of baby cards I made using a technique called Revitalised Vellum.

This is one way to give your vellum a pattern and turn it into an interesting background for layering on your cards.

I've used my ink pads in a direct to paper technique to kind of "wipe" them all over the vellum.   It takes a bit of time to dry, especially if your inks are super juicy.  You can speed up the process with a heat tool but I don't like to use mine because the vellum curls up and it's a bit of a pest to flatten out.

Tip:  Ensure you put adhesive right to the edge otherwise the vellum will curl off the card - ok if that's the look you're after!

Versatile Stockings

Playing around with the Stitched Stocking set & punch has been a lot of fun.   And I'm sure you're all dying to be able to buy it come Dec 1st.    Here's a sneak peek at some of the cute things you can use it for:

Now I can use this stamp set & punch all year round....woohoo!  I stamped the stockings in Pretty in Pink on Whisper White then cut about a third off the top.   Trimming the little scallop tops was easy then I stuck then back onto the stocking base with snail.  The Striped embossing folder looks great with Flirtatious DSP layered on top.    Hello Baby came from Teeny Tiny Sentiments and the rhinestones......shhhhhh....are covering up a mistake!

Rudolph is made by using the stocking upside down.   The antlers came from the Bird Builder punch and the nose is from the Owl builder.  His ears are the heel of stocking punch.

Timeless Portrait DSP gives this a non-traditional look for Christmas.  The stockings make great "L's" and I've used the Timeless Type alphabet Sizzlits for the other letters.  This is a slightly different shaped Joy fold card with the width of the fold out piece rather long, but necessary because of the length of the word.  Tip - make it bit deeper so that the card can stand up when open....oops!   Triple layer Doily Punch used for the closer and the Cherry Cobbler stamping on the background piece is from Season of Joy.
