Sunday's Catalogue Launch

A great day was had by all!    Thank you ladies for coming along & "playing" on Sunday.   It was a lot of fun, good company & great crafting.   We had some afternoon tea, did a couple of prize draws, made a Fancy Favor gift box with the Big Shot (you need one of these!), and most importantly had a good look at the new 2010/2011 Idea Book & Catalogue.  The scavenger hunt got everyone searching for products and of course, finding new treasures & ideas galore.   I know of at least one attendee who got into bed that night with her copy to read!!!   I too have been known to slide into bed early with my catalogue for a little crafty reading that guarantees dreams of ribbon, paper & brads.......that's brads...not Brad!!

Here's some pics for you:

Cards by the Scouts

I managed to get a few pics done of the cards this morning before I packaged them up.  They look so lovely.   The more I looked at them, the more I realised what a great job the scouts did.   And just for the record, the age range is 10-14 yrs with half girls (yes, they do scouts too!) and half boys.  Amazing!

Cards for the Troops with Scouts

Last night's Christmas card session with the scout's was wonderful!    They are a lovely group of young people and really got behind this great cause.  In just over an hour they managed to make 48 cards!  Pretty impressive.   They enjoyed trying out the punches and stamps and the finished cards turned out really well.  Even the leaders had a go with one of the Dads commenting that it brought back memories from primary school!!
I will post a picture in the next day or so but the camera is at school with Lana who's currently doing a photography elective and it's her class today.
Anyway, Balmain scouts, take a bow.......you were a pleasure to craft with.

Mojo Monday 153

I love this Mojo card!   The sketch really appealed to me because I'm always drawn to anything with 4 squares layered on a card.    Again I decided to tie it in with my Festive Friday card, hence it's another Christmassy one.   Actually, I was trying to save time because I've spent the morning preparing for my cards for the troops session with the local scout group tonight, and all the christmas materials were right there on the table!

Supplies I've used to make this card:
Stamps:   Short & Sweet
Cardstock:  Always Artichoke, Whisper White & Real Red
Paper:  Wintergreen DSP (retired)
Ribbon:  Real Red 5/8" grosgrain
BigShot & polka dot embossing folding
Punches: 1 3/8" & 1 1/4" Square, Word Window, Small Oval
Button & rub on.
Non SU - Flat back Rhinestone Brads (coming in the new catty soon!!)

My Craft Space

With the colour renovation upon us, I decided it was time to start cleaning out my space.  A bit daunting to say the least!   I actually work best in an organised area and am generally quite tidy, but over time the boxes of "stuff" just pile up and the desk ends up with bits and pieces all over it.  It really cramps my style!!!  Who gave the cleaner the day off anyway?!

No, I don't have a cleaner, but you'd never know....LOL.   Anyway, I have made a start, but I can't show you the pics yet.  It's a work in progress and may never actually be tidy enough for you to notice any difference.  But I notice, and that's what matters.   It's been quite liberating to go through all my cardstock and inks and sort them out.  And yes, there's a lot of colours going, but I'm really excited about the new ones coming in - only a few weeks to go!

And totally off the subject, well, kind of related because while I was cleaning, I found this great quote stuck inside a notebook I'd made some years back:

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it's the courage to continue that counts" - Winston Churchill

How appropriate.  It will take courage to continue.  Who knows what's hidden under all that mess?!

So go ahead, liberate yourself and your space, and have a crafty day!
Thanks for reading.

Mojo Monday 151

Here's my Mojo Monday sketch for this week.  I decided to combine it with my card for last week's Festive Friday because I got a bit busy with classes & prep last week so I didn't get to my card for the troops on time.

I dug out an old favourite designer series paper for this - it's retired, but it was called Wintergreen & it's so lovely.   Other supplies are:   Stamp set - Snow Swirled; Cardstock - Basic Grey, Real Red, Always Artichoke & Whisper White; Ink - Always Artichoke; Sizzlits Lots of Tags die cut; Rhinestone brads and SU Red Glass Mix beads (bought when I was a US demonstrator).

Thanks for looking!
