The Best Colour Combination for Vintage Themed Cards & Projects

Colour can be a challenge when creating a project and it says a lot about feelings and aesthetic.

With so much choice, it can be hard to narrow it down.  But in my view, this is the best colour combination for a vintage look.

I like it because it's subtle and makes me think of aged, worn and faded fabrics and papers.

Here's a couple of projects I've made using these three colours:  Pear Pizzazz, Rococo Rose, Crumb Cake.  The neutral is Very Vanilla.

If you'd like to get these products you can shop here.

12 Days of Christmas - Day 7 Snowflakes & Ribbon Card

When you have designer series paper that you love, it's an added bonus to find it's suitable for a variety of occasions.  I just discovered this with Comfort Cafe.

I like the balance in this card, the colours are gentle and I've incorporated vintage brads, glimmer paper & lace.  Some of my favourite things!

Supplies used:
Stamp Set:  Greetings of the Season. By far, the BEST Christmas greeting set I've ever had!
Cardstock:  Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Marina Mist
Silver Glimmer Paper
Ink: Marina Mist
Designer Series Paper:  Comfort Cafe
Snow Flurry Die & Petals a Plenty Embossing Folder for the Big Shot
Blossom Punch, 1 3/4" Scallop Circle & 1 3/8" Circle
Crumb Cake Seam Binding & Lace ribbon with an Antique Brad.

Wishing you a very happy and productive day!

Leftovers

Why are leftovers always so yummy?  Is it because you were able to just "heat & eat", or maybe it's that the flavours develop?  Anyhow, regardless of the why, it's absolutely delicious to sink your teeth into leftovers.
This is also true for paper leftovers - no, I don't eat them!

But look what happened when I found some leftover green bits on my desk.......

And leftover pink bits.........

The silver hardware was also lying around.  No idea where I got them but I've had them for years. SU's Hodgepodge Hardware would also work nicely, dontcha think?

That said, what will you make with your leftovers today?

Cheers

Bookmark Case

I'm casing the IB&C this morning, and I really like the result.

It was so easy to make.   And although I do have the supplies list I didn't really need it, just the picture from the catty.
The stamp set is Kindness Matters & I've used Lovely Letters for the alphabet.   I cut the "K" out using the Curly Label punch.  Then I stuck it to a post-it note and repunched it on all four sides to make it smaller - cute eh?
The inks are Melon Mambo & Soft Suede and I cut the bookmark using the Two Tags die in the Big Shot with Confetti White cardstock.  Victoria Crochet Trim, a pin from Vintage Trinkets and a charm complete the look.    The charm is not SU (I've had it for years, as you do!) but the catty uses the Trinket Keys  and I think I'm now going to have to buy them!!

Happy Thursday.

Invitations

I have to make some birthday invites so I started playing around with ideas.  I haven't decided what to do yet, but I started the creative invitation mojo by casing something from a previous year's IB&C.

Here it is:

Friends 24-7, Wonderful You, Please Come

I like it because it's simple and elegant.   I wish they'd bring that stamp set back - it's called Wonderful You.  Well, that's the leaves anyway.   The greeting is from Please come, also retired.  The flourishy fleur de ley style stamp is from Friends 24-7.  It's so gorgeous - and current!  The colours on this card are Always Artichoke and Very Vanilla, with inks in Crumb Cake,  Old Olive and Always Artichokee.   I got the lighter green by stamping off first in the Old Olive.  Don't you love the lace - it's in the current mini.  Be quick, it's gone after 31 march.

Here's another one - this one's all mine!:

Perfect Plum Card with Birthday Bakery

This is a completely different style.  I've used the Top Note as in the previous card but punched out the frame and stamped the greeting onto a second piece of punched DSP and adhered it in side the frame.  The Top Note is mounted on dimensionals so you get the depth in the design.   The stamp is from Birthday Bakery, a hostess set and I've coloured it with markers in Tempting Turquoise, Perfect Plum, Old Olive & Regal Rose.  Party This Way is from......Party This Way!   And it's stamped in Early Espresson on Old Olive CS, then hand cut.  The bow is Very Vanilla taffeta ribbon stuck down with a glue dot.

Happy Friday!
