Honourable Mention on Just Add Ink

My card got an honourable mention in the Just Add Ink colour challenge last week.   How lovely.

It's a really nice card and I'm thrilled that others liked it too.

JAI189 Colour Challenge

Here's this week's colour challenge over on Just Add Ink.  I love it.  The design team samples are gorgeous and I will definitely be casing one or two of them!
But for now, here's my card:
It was inspired by/cased from a sample in the current annual Stampin' Up! catalogue on page 203.  I absolutely love the layout and I'm quite pleased with the way this variation turned out.

Love the bow?  Hop over to my "how to" video on YouTube and you can check it out.  It's really easy!

Supplies Used:
Stamp Set: Daydream Medallions, Hello Lovely
Card Stock: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Perfect Plum, Raspberry Ripple
DSP:  Season of Style stack & Crumb Cake Basics (R)
Ink:  Raspberry Ripple & Perfect Plum
Perfect Plum button & Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon
Big Shot, Daydream Medallions Framelits, 1 1/4" scallop circle punch, 7/8 scallop circle punch, 2 1/2" circle punch.

Have a super day!

A Frame for a Butterfly

Isn't it easy to forget what craft supplies you have?  I know I certainly do, and I'm very prone to working with the current sets and materials, which causes me to overlook some of the beautiful products I've had for a while.

We worked with some of these items at my class last week, and they were so nice I decided to adapt them to this weeks challenge at Just Add Ink, which prompted me to dig out a couple of items in the Big Shot drawer!

I've made my frame using the Designer Frames embossing folder for the Big Shot.  I hand cut it out carefully to retain it's lovely shape.  It surrounds a small piece of the Natural Composition Specialty Designer Series Paper.  If you haven't seen this before, take a close look - it is a gorgeous Kraft colour and quite a heavy weight but it's embossed with a fleur de lys type pattern.  You can see another sample of it here.

The next item I re-discovered was the Butterfly Wings Embosslit.  It's so cute with it's 5 little butterflies that are all different sizes and have different patterns embossed into them.  This is one of those great dies that embosses and cuts at the same time.

Supplies Used:
Stamp Set - Chalk Talk
Cardstock - Soft Suede, Bermuda Bay, Very Vanilla
Ink - Bermuda Bay & Soft Suede
Paper - Naturals Composition Specialty
Big Shot - Embossing folders - Designer Frames & Fancy Fan, Butterfly Wings Embosslit.
1 3/8" Circle punch
Ruffled Stretch Ribbon in Baked Brown Sugar
Rhinestone jewels

Thanks for looking.  Perhaps you'll go search through your craft stash and see what treasures you can find that you've forgotten about?!

Cheers

Mojo 307 & JAI 178

No, a whole week hasn't passed already, it's just that last week my card was almost late for Mojo Monday and this week it's really early!   This is the first time I've combined two challenges, how exciting!

When I saw this sketch, it said Christmas.....partly because I've been working on some demo samples for my mini launch, so I'm kind of  "in the zone".  And also because I'm growing my stash for the troops - rather well right now as it happens!  Yay me!

And that's where the Just Add Ink challenge comes in, because this week is snowflakes!

So, here we have a couple of my fav things - snowflakes, and traditional Christmas colours.  What could be better (some real snow please!).

Do you like the way the snowflakes are stamped?  It's a technique called Stipple Kissing.  Start by inking your stamp in the lighter colour - I've used Crumb Cake.  Then, using a stipple brush, swipe it gently across the darker ink - Cherry Cobbler, and dab it on top of the stamp.  You can do specific areas as I've done here but it also looks great when it's a bit random and slap dash.   Be sure to breathe all over the stamp to moisten the ink before stamping onto your cardstock.

The rhinestones add a touch of sparkle and for a change I've used the embossed Old Olive cardstock on the de-bossed side, or the side where the image is pushed in.

Supplies used:
Stamp Set - ?? Sneaky Peeky,  Sweet Sentiments
Cardstock - Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Old Olive
Ink - Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler
Paper - ?? Sneaky Peeky
Petals a Plenty embossing folder, ??? Sneaky Peeky Framelits & the Big Shot
Rhinestone jewels, 1 1/4" square punch, stipple brush

What are those gorgeous sneaky peeky products?  You'll find out at the mini launch - email me to book - AND you'll get to use them too!

Cheers
