Simply Made

What do you do when you have a piece of Spice Cake DSP lying around?   Here's what.....

Super simple, but so gorgeous!  The Simply Scored features in the border around the paper.  And the butterflies were made using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit.

As this was a custom sized card, I needed an envelope.   Enter, the SS Diagonal Plate!  So, yes, I made the envelope too.    Are you envy-ous!   If so, order yours today.

The photo corners were made using a retired Stampin' Up! punch.

I've made the envelope fasteners by punching out two circles, 1/2" & 3/4" and sticking them together with snail.  Then I put a brad in the centre.  I attached crochet thread under the brad and tied it in a double knot so it's secure, then trimmed the end off.   The bottom fastener is made in the same way but I just wrapped the lose end of the thread around it 3 or 4 times then cut it off.  I've left it quite long so you've got some to hold on to.   Both fasteners are held in place with Sticky Strip because it's really strong.

I love lining envelopes with DSP.  It really makes it so very special!

When you buy your diagonal plate you'll receive some instructions with measurements for standard sized envelopes.  It is so easy to use.   I had to figure out my own measurements because my card is a 12cm square (and not standard), but it really was very easy to work out.

Hope your week is off to a great start.
Cheers

For Crafts Sake 2!

The scallop flower cards we made yesterday were larger than normal because of the size of the die.  So of course, we had to make envelopes!   This happens to me a lot because I love large square cards.  Anyway, they turned out really cute with a punched scallop flower stamped with Circle Circus on the front and the stalk and leaves in Old Olive from Petal Pizzazz.  Because of the sizes, we had to add an extra piece of cardstock onto the back to make the flap closure.  And this time we used envelope glue rather than velcro as the fastener.

Lastly, this relates to the Mojo 156 in my post yesterday, but I had to show you a close up of the gorgeous bow that Tracy made using the Kiwi Kiss/Very Vanilla satin ribbon.   That's what happens when you come to a technique class with PaperLady.  What a good student!

Cheers!

Envelopes

If you're like me, you make cards that fit into standard sized envelopes.   But sometimes you want a different look, and often that means either doing without an envelope or making your own.
That's what happened when I did my last Mojo.  I really like the larger square card (6", or 17cm) - you can see it in my last post.  But of course, I had to make an envelope.

I started with a piece of A4 cardstock in Very Vanilla.   I put it on my Scor-Pal http://www.scor-pal.com/
and  placed my Mojo card over the top allowing enough space all round to fold the Very Vanilla to make the envelope.   A4 is not quite big enough for a large square card, but that didn't matter because I wanted to use some of the same designer paper that I'd put on the card.   The Scor-Pal makes it really easy to get the size of the envelope right because you can measure everything in one go.

I may have overdecorated the front - I used Parisian Breeze Designer Series Paper, and also the Stamp Set Bella's Bloom.

The back of the envelope has the large piece of Parisian Breeze stuck over the Very Vanilla flap to make it large enough to take the card.    I've used a velcro fastener to hold it closed.   This also makes the envelope more easily recyclable.  I hate to think of packaging - well, handmade anyway - being used once and thrown away!
 Have a super day!
