Convention 2013 Make & Takes

Just a quick post this morning with a couple of pics of the make & takes I did at Convention this year.

The first one is a card and uses the new stamp set Gorgeous Grunge.  This is a fabulous set for layering and I can see lots of background possibilities for it with the different patterns & textures.  The greeting is from Hello Lovely, as is the ampersand.  And those cute new lacy vintage buttons are definitely going to be popular!

No card is complete without a stamped envelope!

These are our new boxes from the Tag a Bag range.   I mentioned in a previous post that they come in a pack of 8 including acetate sleeves.  But on this one, we added a cardstock cover before slipping the acetate sleeve over the top.  A great idea if you want the contents to be a complete surprise.   Do you like the little "leaves"?  They are oval punched shapes folded in half and snipped with scissors.

Have a great mid-week and go make something gorgeous!
Cheers

More Convention 2013

I really had to hit the ground running when I got back from Convention and have sadly neglected my blog and followers.  But I'm back, so hope you're still out there!

Anyway, here's a bit more about our wonderful Convention in Brisbane.......

Just before our first general session began on the Thursday.  That's the stage behind me, and as usual it was all decked out with this year's theme.  When you see the upcoming catty you may recognise this.
This year's theme

Shelli opened the first general session with her usual style
and before you knew it, we had our first all-attendee give-away.  It was a brand new stamp set - Tag It from the upcoming catalogue (on sale July 2).  This year, the company announced that they have partnered with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) GLOBALLY.  This charity supports families who have children with serious illness' and $3 from every set purchased will be donated to them - world wide!  Our mission was to make the cards in the make & take pack using the stamp set, and rather than "take" them home, donate them to the charity to be used as they see fit.   We were also offered the opportunity to volunteer to support our local RM House and could sign up right there at convention - with Ronald McDonald himself in attendance!

Here I am at the RM table with Ana from our SU Sydney office.  If you ever call SU demonstrator support, you may have spoken to Ana, and she really a sweetheart and always willing to help out. Thanks honey!

Doing our make and takes in the gathering place.
Sterling, Shelli's sweetheart as she calls him, took this lovely photo of us.  Where's Trace?   Nursing a concussion back at the hotel after banging her head VERY hard on that of another demonstrator - who was not hurt.  Ouch. Trace was fine after a rest and a panadol.

Our hotel in the background.
The view on my morning walk.  Good Morning Brissy!

MDS or My Digital Studio is a brand new product to our market this year and it featured big time at Convention with a training session plus some hands on opportunities in the gathering place.  These are a whole variety of party products made using the digital media.  And I love it!

No Convention is complete without a trip to Memento Mall.  We can buy logo merchandise here and it's a great place to pick up some special gifts for customers and team members.

I was thrilled to be welcomed up to the stage this year for my first ever award - the One Diamond Leadership Award.  This award is for the promotions my team have had during the last 12 months.  Well done guys - I would not have been on the stage if it wasn't for your hard work.

Joey was all smiles on the last day as she got Shelli to autograph her convention booklet.  Aren't they gorgeous?!

A lovely change to our awards night this year was a dessert buffet rather than the traditional sit down dinner.  The main reason being that our market has grown so much making dinner a less viable option.  Instead we had a fabulous party complete with yuumy treats and a band, lot's of dancing and all round a really great social occasion.

Yes, they look quite relaxed here but I can tell you they danced up a storm on the dance floor.  At one point it was completely jammed with crazy dancing and singing, lot's of laughs and all in all a very celebratory and festive occasion.

Ok, that's all the convention buzz.  This year was my fourth, and I think my favourite of all.  Next year it's off to Melbourne and yes I'm planning it already!

Have a super Thursday.......go make something!

Be The Difference

This is Stampin' Up's theme this year.  So naturally we took our pic in front of the banner!

We are beginning our final day of Convention.........ahhhhhh and still have so many things to share.    I'll pop back later with some project pics.

Hope you have a great weekend!
