Feels Like Spring!

After the last couple of weeks of gorgeous sunshine, it feels like spring has arrived early doesn't it?  It's still been chilly but such beautiful skies.

I made this banner, using our Epic Day designer series paper.   It's come out quite lovely with the embellishments and chipboard letters.

The burlap is a new product in our upcoming holiday catalogue.  I can see it will become a favourite.  It's lovely to work with and adds great texture.

And how lovely is that maple leaf?  It's going to get a work out too because it's great on masculine cards and I can see some really lovely table decorations for thanksgiving which we celebrate after having lived in the States for a few years.

What could be more Spring-like than the Two-Step Bird punch?  It gets used over and over for all sorts of things and it's just perfect in Bermuda Bay with a little colourful scrap of dsp for the wings.

Christmas Decorations

If you've had a look at the holiday catalogue this year you'll have seen the ornament on the front cover.  And while I was at Heartfelt with Stampin' Up! recently, I saw lots of variations on this theme, and some very gorgeous creations.

Here's my version of the ornament with a banner.

 

Supplies for the fancy ornament:  Whisper White Cardstock, Silver Glimmer Paper, Real Red Basics DSP for small rosette, Real Red Classic Ink & Lucky Limeade Classic Ink, Bakers Twine, Hot Glue Gun, Ornaments Keepsakes Stamp Set & co-ordinating Framelits for the Big Shot, Snow Flurry Bigz Die, Simply Scored.

 

Supplies for the banner:  Wild Wasabi, Whisper White Cardstock, Silver & Cherry Cobbler Glimmer Paper, Two Tags Die, Snow Flurry Die & Typeset Alphabet (R), Real Red grosgrain ribbon.

Supplies for this simple ornament:  Snow Flurry Bigz Die, Glimmer Paper, Real Red Cardstock and circle punch, then emboss with Petals a Plenty folder.  The rosette was a strip of Real Red Basics DSP scored every half inch on the Simply Scored, folded accordian style and adhered with hot glue.

I am loving working with Glimmer Paper.  It's really easy to use and the glitter doesn't come off all over the place.  Unless of course you are cutting lots of snowflakes with your Big Shot as I did for this project..giggle..but I just wiped it all over my face and clothes so I'm-a-sparkling all over!!

Mojo Monday 262

I'm way out of my comfort zone here!  This is the first coiled fabric flower I've made.  And based on that, I used Summer Smooches DSP.  A paper I love, but because of all the colours I find it hard to choose what to put with it!  Argh, too many choices for me today!!  If you saw how many combinations I had, you'd think I'd gone crazy.

Anyway, let me know what you think.  It's a bit busy for my taste, but it came out ok in the end.  And I'm going to play with those sticky rounds some more.  I really like them!

Decorations

I've only recently started to use my papercraft for decorations.  Sure I've done Christmas stuff - mostly tree ornaments, but there's a lot of very talented crafters out there that make lovely home decor and seasonal items and I guess I got inspired by them.

Stampin' Up!'s motto is to  Inspire, Create, Share.   I've made two items for my craft space in that vein.........

This gorgeous banner hangs directly over my head while I'm "working"!   It definitely inspires me and I feel so relaxed and at peace when I'm in my craft space.

This is another of those wooden pieces that I love and although I've used the less is more technique I think it turned out really nicely.  It hangs above all my punches.

.......and the third, Share, is what I do right here in blogland!

My Gorgeous Banner

For the open day at the neighbourhood centre on the weekend, my friend Susie made this gorgeous banner.

The picture really doesn't do it justice.  We got so many comments about it on the day.

How lucky am I?   She hand cut all the pieces, and all the little flowers and decorations are fussy-cut too.  The paper is Cottage Wall - one of my favourites, and all the trimmings are done in Rich Razzleberry including the polka dot ribbon (another favourite). 

So now wherever I go, I'll be able to put my custom-made banner on my stall.
