Honourable Mention on Just Add Ink

My card got an honourable mention in the Just Add Ink colour challenge last week.   How lovely.

It's a really nice card and I'm thrilled that others liked it too.

Mojo Monday 318

It's contest week at Mojo Monday and Julee Tilman has done a gorgeous sketch that I couldn't resist.

I've used one of my favourite patterned DSP's from the Eastern Elegance pack.  There's something irresistible about the swirls and graded Pistachio Pudding colour.

I'd finished the card and the banner looked a little plain, so I decided to go with a couple of narrow strips of card stock in Primrose Petals and Strawberry Slush.

These colours are very similar until you get them side by side.  Tip:  Don't mess with these colours at night time (in electric light)!  You really need daylight to ID them correctly.  Solution - a daylight lamp.  Not quite as good as the real thing, but close.

I also think those little strips finish the design as the ribbon & hearts are actually different - accidentally so!!

Now, here's a little contest for you.......

Create your own version of my card using whatever supplies you have, email me a pic, and you'll go into the draw to win a spool of pleated satin ribbon.  Contest open to Australian residents only (apologies to our overseas friends).

Can't wait to see what you create.

Supplies used in my card:
Stamp Set: Hearts a Flutter & Yippee-Skippee
Cardstock - Baked Brown Sugar, Pistachio Pudding, Very Vanilla, Strawberry Slush, Primrose Petals
Paper - Eastern Elegance DSP
Ink:  Raspberry Ripple & Black StazOn
Big Shot
Chalk Talk Framelits, Hearts a Flutter Framelits
Boutique Details, Stitched Satin Ribbon
1 3/8" square punch

Snowman In November?

I played along with the challenge on 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown this week.  And I'm pleased to say that I nearly have enough of my own personal Christmas cards done & dusted!  That's a great feeling especially as it's only the first week of November.  Mind you, the time from here to Christmas will fly, so I won't rest on my laurels just yet...giggle.

Here's the sketch:

And my interpretation:

This is a large square card - 14cm x 14cm.  So I had to make an envelope, but this is very easy now with our new envelope punch board.

The Snow Day stamp set is in the current Holiday Catalogue.  It has a lot of stamps and they are very easy to line up when you use the clear mount option. Of course you can always use a Stamp-a-Majig if you are really particular, but I didn't think it was necessary as these stamps all seem to work just fine.

I have another sample of this stamp set over on my Facebook page which shows how to use our lovely snow man as a snow-woman, especially suited to our warm Aussie climate.

Unlike a snowman made primarily of snow, a paper snowman

* Doesn't require actual snow.
* Won't make your hands cold.
* Won't slowly melt into a sad little puddle.
Create a snowman. Create a snowman army. The sky's the limit!
Set quantity: 12

Item #131895 Clear Mount $37.95 or #131892 Wood Mount $46.95
